A Gold-Digger’s Little Sales & Selling Secret

When I was single and in my 20s, working in sales, some of my friends were pretty jaded about women.

They were the guys who couldn’t get a date to save their lives, or if they did manage to get a first date, there was rarely a second.

Their excuse?

“Women just want money! They’re all golddiggers!”

Yep, these loser guys blamed their lack of wealth for their failure with women instead of looking in the mirror and trying to improve themselves and their boring lives.

But you know what?

I could see why they’d believe that.

After all, they’d consistently see women going out with guys who had nice cars and good jobs – BUT – what they didn’t understand is that it wasn’t about money.

It was about PASSION.

All people – not just women – are attracted to those who are passionate about something in their lives. We’re ALL attracted to passion.

And, not coincidentally, having passion for your business or your job or just life in general will inevitably lead to a nice income, hence the myth that women are all about money. People with passion tend to do well for themselves.

Let’s take it a step further.

Selling is about people. Human nature is always the same, no matter what your product or service is. That’s why I get so frustrated when I see a sales manager who won’t hire someone without experience in that particular industry. If you can sell, you can sell, period. End of story.

I went to sales training with a guy who partied for all of the three weeks and learned absolutely nothing about our product, yet he outsold everyone when we returned home and went to work.

Why?

Because he was an engaging person with a passion for life!

And it’s the same with YOU, too.

If you want to sell more, you need to have a mission. A purpose.

A passion that goes beyond just sales numbers.

It’s easy to pick out someone who only cares about making big bucks because there’s no love for their product, their customers, their company, or their industry.

It shows in today’s world of non-existent customer service.

When you have passion, it’s like a giant magnet that attracts people to you. And when you have none, it makes you stick out like a sore thumb.

So, if you want to begin selling more today, add passion to yourself and your daily routine, and watch the numbers come rolling in!
